We Do Know What Causes Autoimmunity!

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

By Heidi Whitaker I am constantly reading and hearing that we don’t know the cause of autoimmune disorders such as lupus, ALS, Fibromyalgia, MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Chronic Epstein-Barr, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This is not the case at all. I would agree that pharmaceutical companies have not found a cause of autoimmunity that they can do much about. In mainstream medicine, that translates to not knowing much about the disease. However, outside mainstream medicine, we do know A LOT about the cause behind autoimmunity. From my book, “Autoimmunity: It’s Time for Truth; It’s Time to Heal”: “The immune system, like most of the body, requires balance to function properly. T-helper 1 (Th1) cells and T-helper 2 cells (Th2) help regulate the bodys response to foreign invaders. Th1 uses white blood cells to go after viruses and cancer cells. Th2 immune cells use antibodies to go after bacteria. Normally, the body strikes a balance by switching back and forth between Th1 and Th2. In a person with an autoimmune disorder, one dominates and suppresses the other. Trans fats, mercury and other heavy metals, sugar and processed foods, alcohol, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, and stress are part of a modern lifestyle that can disrupt the Th1/Th2 balance. Th1 dominance in women is associated with autoimmunity and recurrent miscarriage in the first trimester of pregnancy. Additionally, children in the autism spectrum tend to be Th1 dominant. Besides autoimmunity, Th2 dominance is characterized by a tendency toward allergies, frequent colds and viral infections, and cancer. Both Th1 and Th2 cells make a protein substance known as cytokines. Cytokines cause inflammation. This inflammation should be a temporary response to injury or infection. Cytokines are a necessary part of our immunity. It is the overproduction (too many) of certain small cytokine molecules that leads to the invasion and inflammation of an organ or body system.” It REALLY is that simple! Sadly, no one who stands to make money from prescriptions to fix the problem will accept or promote that fact that autoimmunity is about malnutrition and toxins reprogramming the immune system to behave in a devastating way. Unfortunately, those who stand to make the most money from denying the truth are the decimators of information. Heidi Whitaker is an author and popular speaker on the topic of nutritional support of autoimmune disease. An advocate for alternative health solutions, she co-founded http://www.healthydivas.com, a resource center for those autoimmune sufferers looking for real answers outside of what conventional medicine can provide. Mortgage Marketing - How to Write a Mortgage Marketing Sales Letter That Gets Results!

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

By David Wells Have you ever sat down to write a sales letter and been at a complete loss where to start? It happens to all of us. Sales letters are hard to write. And writing a good one takes a lot of time, research and effort. Buta good letter will make you money. The best place to start is with research. You want to know everything you can about the product or products youre selling. At this point youre interested in specific information. The details are vital. You want to understand and be able to clearly and thoroughly describe every aspect of the program youre writing for. Print your notes on a few sheets of paper so you have them when youre ready to begin writing. Next you want to do some research on your target market. Again the specifics are important. Start by defining the characteristics of the typical prospect who would benefit most from your product. Be as thorough as possible. What problem will your product solve for your client? Get inside their head. See the whole loan process from their point of view. Constantly ask why would they want to do this? Make another few pages of notes. Your first set of notes are features. Theyre what your product does. The second set of notes are benefits. Theyre the reason the prospect will decide to buy or not. Now youre ready to write. Start with the headline. The best place to look for the theme of your headline is in your benefits notes. What is the most compelling reason to buy your product? State it in writing as clearly as you can. You have a headline. Now, heres the important part, write another 50 headlines about the same benefit. Set that aside and start writing your letter with your lead. Your lead should build on and restate the theme of your headline. Focus on the benefit to the prospect. Next, you want to back up your strong statement of benefit with details about why your product will lead to such a benefit. State the features that support the statement of benefit. For the rest of your letter you want to weave the benefits together with supporting features. Restate your core benefit often and in a variety of ways. After every statement of benefit tell your prospect why you can deliver on your promise. You have your rough draft. Now you need to select the best three headlines you have and start asking people in your office which one is better. Use the one that wins. Now its time to re-write your letter. You should do this several times. Make your letter sound like your talking to a favorite uncle and explaining why your product will be so good for him. Respect your client. Dont ever talk down to them. Answer every question they might have. Dont be afraid to go long long copy sells better. Happy Writing. Roman Catholic Church: The Church Built By Christ?

Friday, August 10th, 2007

By Sustines Laplana The Roman Catholic Church in her attempt to prove of its being the true Church built by Christ use the declaration of Christ as recorded in Matthew 16:18 as proof of its existence. Based on the said verse, Catholic Authorities teach its members that Christ built the Roman Catholic Church on Peter as the foundation of it and making Peter and its successors - the Popes, the Head of the Church. The Matthew 16:18 states:18And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it.[c](Matthew 16:18, NIV)However, by just examining the verse we will notice that it was not stated by Christ that He built the Roman Catholic Church, because what Christ built was His own Church not a Roman Church nor a Roman Catholic Church. And if this Church is really the Roman Catholic Church in which its members are called Catholics, then Apostle Paul must say on his greetings in Roman 16:16, “All Catholics greet You”. But Apostle Paul didn’t say that instead he said, “The churches of Christ greet you”, that is because the members that he were referring to are members of the Church of Christ.16 Greet one another with a holy kiss. The[a] churches of Christ greet you. (Romans 16:16, NKJV)Secondly, Catholic authorities claim that the Roman Catholic Church was built or founded by Christ on Peter as its foundation. Again, if we will examine the Holy Bible, we will learn that the true Church founded by Christ was not built on Peter but on Christ Himself. When Christ said, “and on this rock I will build my church”, the rock mentioned by Christ here is not Peter but Christ Himself. That’s the reason why Apostle Paul adviced his brethren in the true Church of Christ, as it was stated on the Colossians 2:6-7.6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it[a] with thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:6-7, ibid)Let us not forget that Christ is the cornerstone, not Peter.20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. (Ephesians 2:20)It is true that Peter means stone, however he was not the foundation stone because it is Christ who is the foundation stone. And Peter is just one of the stones that stood on top of Christ. Lastly, according to the Catholic authorities, Peter (and his successors, the Popes) was made by Christ the head of the Church. This teaching is clearly false based on the truth written on the Holy Bible, because the true Church of Christ is headed by Christ Himself. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. (Colosians 1:18, NIV)Even if Christ is already in heaven and seated at the right hand of God (Colosians 3:1, NIV) however, he didn’t appoint anybody to replace Him being the head of the Church because according to Apostle Paul, “He continues forever”.24 But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. (Hebrews 7:24, NKJV)Put it in your mind, Christ was the Head of His Church when He was still here on earth, and He is still the head of the Church now and forever, because according to Apostle Paul, “Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever”. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8, NKJV)Therefore, those claims and teachings of the Catholic Authorities are false claimsand teachings, because they are not supported by the truth written on the Holy Bible. Any churches that will claim to be the true Church of Christ, must show proofs from the Bible that will support their claims because the Holy Bible is the only document that witness the existence of the true Church founded by Christ on the first century. They should also bear witness from Christ Himself and even from the Apostles, and most of all from God. About the Author: Sustines E. How To Tell If You’re The Best Candidate For A Tummy Tuck Procedure

Monday, August 6th, 2007

By Tim Gorman When people talk about tummy tuck surgery, you could almost be forgiven for thinking it’s some sort of miracle operation that will change you overnight with no obvious after effects. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Undergoing a tummy tuck procedure is a major surgical procedure, and a great deal of thought should go into the decision to go ahead. For starters, are you the best candidate for having a tummy tuck? This isn’t some sort of rapid weight loss surgery - in fact, it’s mostly suitable for people with an excess of skin in the abdominal region. This has usually been caused by multiple pregnancies or the loss of a great deal of weight. When the abdominal muscles have been repeatedly or extensively stretched, they may struggle to regain their elasticity, leading to sagging skin and an unsightly abdomen. The procedure can also help improve the skin’s appearance where the patient has excessive sub-navel stretch marks. Any candidate for a tummy tuck needs to be in good physical health. It’s also important to realize that you will be left with permanent scarring after the operation, and you also have to accept all the usual risks involved in undergoing a general anesthetic. An abdominoplasty requires months of recovery time, as well as careful preparation prior to the operation, and good post-operative care. If you’re planning further pregnancies, or intending to lose a significant amount of weight, then a tummy tuck isn’t a good idea. You are better off postponing the surgery, or else you risk having the vertical abdominal muscles separate, which requires more surgery to repair. If you’ve already had some type of abdominal surgery, your surgeon may advise against a tummy tuck, or you may find that the new scars are a great deal more visible than you expected. You also need to think about how a tummy tuck will affect your life in general. Yes, your general state of health needs to be good in order to have the surgery, but you need to allow time to prepare for the operation, as well as being able to take life easy for many months afterwards. This can be particularly difficult if you have dependents, or your job requires you to be very active. After the operation you will most likely find yourself physically unable to care for others, and may find your energy levels are substantially lower than normal.’ If you have strong abdominal muscles and good health, then your recovery time will be on the shorter end of the scale, but some patients take as many as eight months to get completely back to normal. During this time they may be unable to drive or lift any heavy objects. If you know you can’t afford to be restricted for such a long period, then perhaps you should consider waiting to have a tummy tuck until your circumstances will allow you an extended recovery period. Make sure you have discussed the operation with family and friends, as you may find yourself needing their support in the months to come. Although abdominoplasty can improve the appearance of your abdomen, it’s important to realize this isn’t a miracle operation. It may help to improve your self-confidence, but you still need to be realistic about the results of the surgery. Make sure you’ve discussed the operation fully with your surgeon, and also discussed the expected outcomes, so that you’re not left believing that a tummy tuck will achieve things that are impossible. Profit by Providing Home Based Child Care Services

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

By J. Stephen Pope How can you profit from the boom in child care services? Here are a few suggestions. 1. Provide Child Care from Your Home Would you like to provide child care services from your own home? If so, here is some advice obtained from an experienced child care provider: There may be laws in your area that limit the number ofchildren (other than your own) that you can care for from your home. It could be just five or six children. Don’t do half days. If someone drops their child offjust for the morning and someone else drops their child off just for the afternoon, it still ties you down all day. If you’re going to be tied down all day, you might as well get paid for it. Charge for full days and full weeks. Keep in mind that with a limit to the number of childrenyou can legally care for from your home, accepting achild just on Wednesdays will mean that you are notable to take another child from Monday to Friday (because then you’ll have one child too many on Wednesdays). This limits your income. Be extremely safety conscious. Children are precious. You really must love children to successfully provide child care services from your home. Structure and routine are very important. Keep to a schedule of regular nap and meal times for the children. 2. Provide Value-Added Child Care You can add value to your home based child care services. In this way, you will be able to set yourself apart from your competition and charge higher fees. If you live on a farm, you might offer horseback ridinginstruction. Could you offer a sports camp, craft classes, music lessons, computer training or other activities for children? 3. Run a Home Based Child Care Referral Service Another way to profit from the boom in child care services is to operate a child care referral service. Advertise to find child care workers and babysitters.Screen and interview them. Then, provide parents withsuitable matches for a fee. These are just a few ways that you, too, can profit from running a home based child care business. RESOURCE BOX: J. Interoperability Nerdvana

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

By Guy Smith Interoperability is one of the sacred goals of IT, and even consumer computing. If operating systems, utilities, and applications do not work together, user productivity matches the low level I achieve on Friday around cocktail hour … which is “none at all.” Open Source is ripping profitability out of the IT software market in part do to growing interoperability. Unlike traditional technology vendors, Open Source benefits from creating the greatest amount of interoperability possible. More commercial vendors keep margins high by locking in customers to their suite of products. This is partially achieved by minimizing interoperability with competing and non-partner solutions, and thus raising switching costs should a customer consider “dumping and jumping” to a different stack. Linux/GNU and their compatriots have been a model for interoperability. They collectively seek to create as much of the stuff as possible, assuring most of the components of the Linux stack work extremely well together. Without traditional profit motives, the only barriers to interoperability were time and complexity (the time it takes to code interoperations, and the complexity of supporting multiple points of interoperation). But this interoperability has been done on a handshake when developers from different projects found need and motivation. This has led to odd partnerships, some necessary exclusivity, and a bit of weariness by IT in adopting Open Source solutions for fear that necessary interoperability that exists today might not exist in the future. Open Source has now grown to a point where consumers desire a bit more structure. The Open Solutions Alliance (OSA) has started adding structure. This happened pretty quickly for an organization that didn’t exist three months ago. But when you have founding members like CollabNet (who now owns SourceForge Enterprise), EnterpriseDB, Hyperic, JasperSoft, SourceForge.net, SpikeSource, and Unisys … well, you have a bit of muscle to get things done. What OSA initiated is an interoperability roadmap — an attempt to specify some well-defined interoperability standards in the business software space. That’s right, interop in applications. The objective is to document standards and best practices for Open Source developers to use when building their software. The OSA will help by prototyping working code to demonstrate the principles of the standards. The initial prototype will be the Common Customer View. This standard joins information held in different applications (CRM, ERP, etc.), business intelligence software, and for demo sake, a legacy point-of-sale application. This presents new issues for software marketing professionals. If you are a traditional application vendor, you will eventually encounter new competitive threats. All other things being equal, interoperability between Open Source applications would be a deal-making differentiator. Your products will either have to interoperate with best-of-breed commercial applications, interoperate with Open Source applications using OSA standards, or both. If you are a dual-source vendor, these standards will become part of your value proposition. This is a boon to dual-source vendors, creating an advantage over best-of-breed commercial applications while adhering to the Open Source promise of lower cost and greater flexibility. I can foresee a time when the old networking-centric Interop trade show could become the application-centric Interop event, where all the application software vendors demonstrate live how they work with all the other vendors in the building. Interop launched standards-based networking, and OSA may launch standards-based applications. Guy Smith is the chief consultant for Silicon Strategies .
