Are You Ready To Research Your Market?

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

By Dan J. Fry Picture this. You develop some product or service, spend countless hours making sure everything is just right, set up a beautiful web site, make sure the ecommerce end is secure, and then release what you know will be of utmost benefit to others. Do you really know this? How do you know it? Gut feeling? Someone else told you so? In the world of online ventures, researching the currently defined marketplace can be even more important than in the offline world. Why? Things change so incredibly fast. Web sites and services start and end with the blink of an eye. In part this is because of the nature of the internet, and most are able to survive these types of massive fluctuations. But the ones who succeed and stay near the top, releasing of product after product are the ones who initially conduct market research and do so on a regular basis. Now, don’t let the term intimidate you. Market research is simply about getting to know what others are doing, what others want and who if anyone is supplying it. Yes, in a way this is supply and demand revisited. But, and this is important, market research is also about predictions and expectations. By studying and learning about what is going on not only in your current market but in related areas, you will begin to develop a keen sense of what is needed. Even better, you will begin to develop a sense of innovation, possible areas that others have not yet thought about. At this stage your brain will flair with excitement and your online business ventures will begin to take on a “cruise and control” nature. Be aware that market research takes time. It must be planned out with a clear goal in mind. Why? Market research in general involves sampling a multi-variable parameter space. O.k. Dan, so what does this mean? It simply means that the question you are trying to answer depends on more than one thing. For instance, suppose you want to research web usage habits. This is an enormously complex topic. It depends in part on what a person is searching for, time of day, day of week, browser type, computer type, dial-up connection, gender, age, etc..Do you see how this can be very hard to understand. So what you do is narrow the number of variables. How do you do this? You focus your questions to areas that limit the number of dependent parameters - smaller subsets of the entire picture. Supposing that the question to answer is now “What percentage of surfers are looking for cosmetics on Wednesday between the hours of 6 and 10 pm?”, we have now removed the gender, day of the week, and hour of the day variables. The problem is now much easier to solve. Market research is a truly rich area. It involves people, who by nature are complex entities to study. But, there is no way around it. If you truly want to prosper in this field you must research your market, and you must regularly do so. Otherwise, your efforts will be in large part hit and miss. Take the time to add a research aspect to your business. You won’t be sorry. Dan J. Fry, c. 2003-2004, All rights reserved. About The Author Dan J. Hoodia

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

By Eric Morris The Kalahari Desert is a harsh desert, but biologically a very active one. South Africa, Angola, Namibia and Botswana border the desert. The native tribe, known as San or Bushman by the white South Africans, is one of the oldest living tribes in the world, may be as old as 100,000 years. Even then, they do not live a settled life with agriculture or animals rearing. They are pure hunter-gatherers. They were hunted down by the white settlers of South Africa as a nuisance, and as late as the early part of 20th century, there were hunting parties organized to exterminate them. When the San go on long hunting trips following the game, they eat a cactus-like plant and they do not feel hunger or thirst for a long period. They called it Xhoba. South Africas government research organization, CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), in a routine investigation tested this plant and found that this indeed blocked the sense of hunger and gave a feeling of fullness to the stomach. Hoodia is the name of the plant, and it is not a cactus but a succulent in the family of Asclepiadaceae. It is multi-stemmed (about 18 inches high, averaging ten tentacles), looks like a long cucumber with spikes, smells unpleasant, and has purple disc-shaped flowers of three to four inches in diameter. It is bitter tasting and grayish brown in color. CSIR scientists isolated the active ingredient, which gave the feelings of fullness when consumed. It is a molecule that they named P 57. There are about twenty varieties of Hoodia, but only one of them is Xhoba, with the ingredient P 57. This is Hoodia Gordoni. In 1776 Col. R. J. Gordon, while exploring the Orange River, found this plant and recorded it. It is named after him as Hoodia Gordoni. It is also called Queen of Namibia and African hats. Medication made from this plant is one of the hottest products in the market for weight-reducing treatments. Hoodia provides detailed information about hoodia, hoodia and weight loss, hoodia cactus, hoodia diet pills and more. Hoodia is the sister site of Ordering Phentermine Diet Pills. Cell Phone Privacy: Keeping It To Yourself

Monday, October 29th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christine_Peppler]Christine Peppler Privacy has become the topic of a great deal of news coverage and focus by the federal government in recent years. Financial institutions, health care providers, and many other organizations have been forced to deal with concerns about assuring the safety of personal information that they collect and maintain about the individuals who access their goods and services. Without safeguards, information can be shared with third parties, sold, or stolen. In other instances, individuals sometimes fail to take precautions to safeguard their own private/personal information. Privacy issues related to cell phone use have been the subject of some attention in recent years as well. Concerns have ranged from strangers listening in to conversations, to hackers gaining access to confidential information stored in cell phones, and imposters stealing phone records. Listening into cell phone conversations is increasingly difficult. Older analog phones can be monitored fairly easily using scanning radios or other cell phones. Land lines are easily tapped into as well. However digital cell phones make this much more difficult and it isn’t performed by amateurs although it becomes easier if a call from a digital phone is received by an older analog phone or land line. Currently, using a GMS/PCS phone, the type with a smart chip, is the safest bet. Of course, users also need to remember to use discretion when talking on their cell phone by stepping into a private area when holding conversations as listening in doesn’t always require high tech equipment. A newer concern is abuse of the Global Positioning System (GPS) chips that are now embedded into handsets to allow location-tracking of callers for the purposes of allowing E-911 to find them in emergencies. By tracking and storing location information, it is feared that privacy will be vulnerable to those who would profile callers. Some experts suggest that users should become familiar with the privacy policies as to how their wireless provider captures and stores data related to customer and location information; ideally the provider would not store location data at all. Since its inception there have been some concerns about phones with Bluetooth capabilities. The very wireless features that make it so useful make it vulnerable to being breached. Experts have reported that a person nearby with a laptop can potentially steal data from cell phones, eavesdrop, or use the phone to call other numbers without the user’s knowledge or consent. Information such as address books, call records, photos, and text messages are all vulnerable. Some suggested safeguards include the use of strong passwords, avoidance of storing sensitive information on cell phones, and turning off the Bluetooth function when not in use. During the past year, there has been a lot of press about the availability of cell phone records related to incoming and outgoing calls. Wireless providers have indicated that records have been obtained on occasion through fraud where individuals posed as a customer to obtain the information. The FCC has investigated organizations/websites that appear to sell such information on line. Wireless providers are also trying to implement internal policies to eliminate misuse by insiders such as employees, partners, and contractors who have access to such private information. Stealing financial records is illegal but it seems that no specific bills have passed in the house or senate regarding other general calling records. It will be up to the wireless providers to continue to put into place security policies and for the FCC to track down more unscrupulous organizations that sell such information. For now, the general public probably just needs to be aware that this information is discoverable for cell phones just as it is for land lines and to communicate with their representatives about their concerns. The Anatomy of the Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) Epidemic

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dr._G._Blair_Lamb] Dr. G. Blair Lamb The Anatomy of the RSI Epidemic Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) is fast becoming one of the most common forms of disability in the workplace. In some industries it is already the number one cause of a temporary and permanent disability. In this article I will explain why and how we develop the elusive RSI. The definition of RSI: Repetitive strain injury is a medical term used to describe a pain or discomfort of the upper limb. Although a repetitive strain can occur in any area of the body, physicians typically apply the term to a pain of the arm unit including the neck, shoulder upper back, arm, forearm and hand, that is related to repetitive tasks. RSI is really an umbrella term used to catch any and all pains of the arm, but the most common forms include tennis and golfers elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuritis, metacarpalgia, rotator cuff of the shoulder, chronic neck and upper back pain and limb numbness. The signs and symptoms of RSI: The signs and symptoms of RSI vary depending on the exact areas of the arm and neck involved in the pain syndrome; however, the most common RSI complaints include the following: Numbness and tingling of the arm and / or hand Pain and / or weakness of the upper arm and / or forearm, and / or wrist, and / or hand Reduced range of motion and / or stiffness of the shoulder, elbow, wrist or fingers Difficulty lifting of objects and / or tendency to drop objects (dropsy) The tendency of pain and / or numbness to increase with repetitive activity and at rest Background of RSI: RSI is considered a soft tissue pain syndrome whereby the pain is derived from a disorder of the muscles and tendons of the neck and limb. To fully understand how muscles can cause disease, it is important to understand the current principles of myofascial pain (MFP) and myofascial dysfunction (MFD). Muscles shorten and can potentially scar in a shortened position as a result of injury or exercise. This process of shortening is often exaggerated at rest. Therefore, muscles that work repeatedly in a particular action eventually shorten and over time, will develop some form of scar formation in areas of the muscle. These scars can be described as microinfarcts, or more popularly, as trigger points. In traumatic cases, muscles will shorten and scar in a much more accelerated period of time and often more severely. Muscles shorten persistently if nerve conduction to that muscle is interrupted. This is known as Cannons Law, and is very important in understanding how we can develop repetitive strain injury. Walter Cannon was able to clearly demonstrate that muscles become super-sensitive and ultimately persistently shortened with eventual scarring when their nerve conduction is partially interrupted. For example, if the nerve supply to the forearm extensors is interrupted by a disk compressing the C4 or C5 nerve root, the forearm extensors will persistently shorten and cause chronic tennis elbow. Shortened muscles around a joint will often change the static position of normal movement of the joint. Furthermore, persistent compression of the joint may occur and contribute to an abnormal and accelerated wear pattern of cartilage and eventually the joint. Joint pain, stiffness and decreased range of motion are common side effects. Over time, destruction of the joint and osteoarthritis are predictable complications. The spine is also affected by these principles of persistent compression when the deep intrinsic spinal muscles are injured and develop shortening and contractures. The vertebral compression will cause disk herniation and spinal stenosis. The vertebrae, disks, nerve roots and the spinal cord can be affected by herniated disks and swollen facet joints. To explain, these deep spinal muscles change the spinal positioning, cause mal-rotation of the vertebrae and non-movement of the spinal segments. This will lead to premature or accelerated disk wear, disk herniation, arthritis of the facet joints, and increase the risk of compression fractures of the vertebrae. This is true at all locations of the spine, but is more prevalent at the levels of C1 to C2, C4 to C6, T11 to L1 and L4 to S1. In the case of RSI, we are typically seeing compression of the segments of C4 to C7. Application of these principles: Lets look at the typical assembly worker. He or she will often perform the same group of tasks and use the same muscle groups of the neck and arm as much as six hundred times per day. The basic effect is to overwork / exercise the muscles of the neck and arm. The first changes that occur are of typical shortening of the deep spinal muscles of the base of the neck (multifidus and deep rotators) and of the shoulder outlet and forearm muscles. Specifically I see shortening and scarring at the levels of C4 to C7 and of the back of the shoulder (latissimus dorsi and subscapularis) and of the front of the shoulder (pectoral minor and major), shortening and scarring of the forearm and hand muscles (forearm flexors, extensors and hand metacarpals) are all generally affected to some degree. Early on, the exam will show mild trigger point or tenderness along the muscle groups mentioned above. Some weakness is often present as the muscles are working below their maximum of their efficiency as a result of being shortened. The individual will often have only slightly reduced range of motion of the neck and arm unit. However, over time the range of motion becomes obviously reduced and the pain symptoms increase as the condition progresses. X-ray and CAT scan imaging will show loss of normal curvature of the neck, and examination will show forward rolling of the shoulders, winging of the scapula, decreased pulse with elevation of the limb, and even acute joint swelling of the affected joints. The loss of normal curvature in the neck indicates prolonged and persistent shortening of the deep spinal muscles of the neck; a so-called tenting effect. As the muscles tighten, they ratchet the neck straight like a tent pole under tension. The effect on the spine is to create a persistent compression on one or more disk and vertebrae. As well, the natural or normal positioning of the vertebrae and disks is altered. The range of motion of the spinal segments becomes obviously reduced as several vertebrae actually fail to move. Disks come under pressure and start to wear at their sidewalls, much like a deflated car tire supporting an over-weighted car. The affected vertebrae will have a slight rotation to the affected side caused by the pull of the intrinsic muscles. Disk bulging and herniation can occur and can also oscillate between bulge and herniation in the early phase of disease. This explains reduced diagnostics of disk herniation during MRI in the supine position as compared to the Standing MRI. Eventually, frank herniation is seen on supine MRI. With increasing neck compression the nerve conduction in the neck supplying the arm becomes more and more affected. Initially the nerve is temporarily and only partially interrupted. Over time, as the spinal compression and rotation deepens, the nerve interruption becomes more constant and severe. Muscles down the affected arm will shorten following a supply pattern according to nerve roots affected (Cannons Law). As well, repeated local muscle injury from continued repetitive work will contribute to further limb muscle shortening. Certain Muscle groups will contribute to different symptoms of numbness, tingling, pain and weakness of the arm. In carpal tunnel, the pectoral (chest muscle) shortening will cause a traction injury to the median nerve at the front of the shoulder. This in turn, causes a pulling effect on the nerve which translates to the nerve being lifted and then caught at the undersurface of the carpal tunnel. Entrapment and swelling of the nerve will then cause numbness, tingling and pain of the thumb, index, middle and half of the ring finger recreating the ever popular pattern of carpal tunnel syndrome. In ulnar neuritis, the lattissimus dorsi and the subscapularis muscles will shorten from reduced nerve supply of C6 to T1. This shortening will then cause a similar traction phenomenon of the ulnar nerve at the back of the shoulder. This traction will then cause the ulnar nerve to catch at the elbow causing golfers-like elbow pain and pain over the nerve when leaning on the elbow. As this progresses, the ulnar nerve actually rolls over the inner elbow or medial epicondyle and can be felt by examination by palpating the medial epicondyle and while flexing the elbow. This indicates very significant traction of the ulnar nerve coming from the back of the shoulder otherwise known as posterior thoracic outlet syndrome. The classical symptoms will be of numbness and tingling of the little fingers and eventually pain in the fingers and ulnar side of the hand. In tennis elbow, the outer elbow (extensors) can shorten and scar as a result of compression of C4 to C6 in the neck (due to contractures within deep intrinsic muscles of the neck at these levels) . The forearm shortening will cause persistent tension of the extensor tendon which causes inflammation of the tendon. The persistent shortening of the extensor group will apply traction to the lateral epicondyle of the affected arm causing pain, swelling and bony changes over the elbow. This mechanism helps to explain the difficult nature in treating tennis elbow, as well as the high failure rate with local elbow therapy. Golfers elbow has a similar mechanism to tennis elbow, only the spinal segments involved are typically C6 to T1. Often golfer elbow is associated with ulnar neuritis as the same spinal segments are involved. Other conditions can be recreated by similar spinal and limb muscle patterns. Computer-related RSI often proves to be more ominous than assembly work. The problem is that keyboarding is a static injury. It is evident that static repetitive work is possibly the worst case scenario, as static muscles not only shorten after injury, but also at the time of injury. In this case the weakness of the muscles can be more exaggerated as the static repetitive action does not allow for increase in muscle strength as compared with standard active repetitive work. Furthermore, the computer-related RSI often affects the upper back area (thoracic spine); an area which has secondary nerve supply to the arm. The thoracic spine can be extraordinary to treat particularly in the presence of kyphosis. The end result of computer-related RSI is a person with a hump back, forward neck, forward shoulders, compressed disks, suffering diffuse muscle shortening and multiple entrapped nerves, and typically affecting both arms. The Treatment of RSI: *The treatment of a complicated/chronic RSI begins with a detailed history and examination often indicating far more disease than initially thought. *Detailed patient education of the mechanism and exercise physiology is important such that they ca be aware of aggravating factors and to succeed with personal exercises. *Physicians and nurses need be more aware of the various patterns of RSI for their early recognition and proper treatment. *The key part of actual therapy must include the implementation of spine and limb “neuropathic” stretching and resistance training (the Lamb Program) that allows for all muscle groups affected to be treated, and for spinal and limb segments to be properly repositioned. *It is important to recognize the limitations of imaging technology, i.e. MRI fails to detect an estimated 40% of disk disease. *The Implementation of injury avoidance and education of RSI-injury factors for the patient helps to reduce re-injury and progression of disease. *The use of specialized injection technologies-surgical dry needling, the Patented Lamb Method of Spinal Botox, injectable NSAIDS can drastically reverse the compressive effect within the spinal anatomy and help most RSIs and other pain syndromes. *Specialized relaxation training systems help to reduce RSI-related muscle tension (i.e. ASeRT Systems). *Positional education for sitting, standing and sleeping, as well as proper sleep education help to reduce the progressive pattern of bad sleep and bad pain. *The implementation of laser/magnetic combination therapy and MET has demonstrated effectiveness as an adjunct to various pain syndromes including RSI. *MET or micro-current therapy is the latest in electronic or electro-medicine that properly addresses the abnormal electrical potential concerns in chronic pain and RSI versus TENS or EMS which are demonstrating oxidizing potential of soft tissue with repeated use. *Obviously the addition of medications can be a major adjunct to RSI and other chronic pains, and I will quickly comment on two medications. *Anti-inflammatories have a beneficial effect in RSI, but must be tapered when stopping, otherwise reactive inflammation and spasm can occur. Lyrica, a new “anti-neuropathic” agent has been helpful in chronic pain. I have found improvement in deep spinal muscle pathology in many patients indicating that cessation of transmission of pain information has a relaxing effect upon spinal and skeletal muscles. Dr. G. Liner Ponds versus Folding Preformed Ponds

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

By Gerry Fung Introduction So youve decided to build your very own backyard water garden. You are in the process of actively planning out your design, and youre visualizing the end-result. But have you paused to consider what kind of pond construction you will be using? Do you know what kind of pond constructions exist? The majority of garden ponds utilize one of two types of constructions: a preformed shell, or a pond liner. Introducing Folding Preformed Pond Shells Traditionally, preformed ponds are large shells, which are extremely burdensome and difficult to transport. For example, a typical preformed pond kit would come in a box that is 60 x 48 x 24, which is too large for many car trunk sizes. To alleviate this problem, flexible preformed ponds have recently been introduced by various manufacturers. These folding ponds include built-in plant shelves, are weather-resistant, and are able to withstand extreme temperatures from 0 F to 105 F. One example of a folding pond, is the one that Algreen distributes (available at GardenSM.com). Upon closer examination of one of their ponds, one of its greatest features is its textured ridges. These ridges are strategically placed to allow beneficial bacteria to form growth colonies, which significantly reduces algae-buildup in the pond. Liner Ponds Liner kits, on the other hand, present many difficulties for the beginner pond gardener. Since every liner pond shape is different, pond gardeners must customize their own pond and ensure that it is level, and that it does not have excessive wrinkling. Therefore, liners are ideal for the more experienced water gardeners because they allow for customizable installations, which consequently promotes greater creativity. However, for the very same reasons, liner ponds also require some extra pre-planning. Because you can create various shapes with liners, it is possible to construct larger, and deeper liner pond configurations (when compared to preformed ponds). For example, a typical preformed pond at GardenSM.com can only hold up to 144 gallons of water. On the other hand, a 10′ x 15′ liner can be purchased from the same store that can construct a pond that would hold up to 700 gallons of water. However, in terms of cost, the purchase of a EPDM liner is a more expensive option, when compared to the purchase of a preformed pond. Before making a decision about the pond construction that you require, it is important that you take a moment to consider several variables: cost, labour required, and creativity. It is hoped that by making the proper decision that your pond experience will be all the more enjoyable. Gerry Fung is the Vice President of GardenSM.com. Both liner and folding preformed pond kits are available at GardenSM.com’s online store at http://www.GardenSM.com For more tips about pond installation, go to GardenSM.com’s tip section. Circuit Training For Weight Loss: Is This The Best Way To Lose Weight

Friday, October 26th, 2007

By Craig Ballantyne How a Busy Financial Executive Lost 15 Pounds of Fat & 4.5 Inches While Gaining Time & Energy After Switching from Circuit Training to the World’s Most Powerful Fat Loss System - Strength and Intervals Andy W. is another strength and intervals success story. A busy financial executive, Andy has made huge changes in his workouts and lifestyle. Like many people, Andy was frustrated by his lack of results prior to finding strength and intervals. But with his new lifestyle, he has converted his body, just like you can. In addition, Andy has made a huge step towards making a massive career change. Soon, he will be one of the most in-demand trainers in the UK. With my help, Andy has began learning the strength and intervals system to help his clients lose fat and gain muscle with quick, effective workouts. Here is more of Andy’s success story. CB: Let’s start with a little background info, Andy. What were you looking to achieve when you found strength and intervals? Andy W.:Hi Craig, I am currently working as an Associate Director for a Finance company here on the Isle of Man. It’s a fancy title for a job that keeps me stuck at my desk for long hours and brings with it a lot of stress. I am 35 and have always been relatively active. I make a point of making time to get to the gym 2-3 times a week and as you know I am currently carving out a new career as a fitness consultant in my spare time. I have a keen interest in nutrition because I have been resistance training for 15 years now with little or no results and put a lot of that down to the food I was consuming at the time. CB: So what are your current thoughts on the importance of nutrition for fat loss? AW:I see nutrition as playing a major role in getting the results you desire and often tell my personal training clients that they do not put low-grade fuel into their cars so why should they fuel their bodies with low-grade processed foods. Anyway, I had learnt a lot from my Personal Trainer exams and one error I was making was that my gym sessions were all machine-based exercises. I remember reading an article in Mens Fitness magazine that to achieve the results I craved I should concentrate on free weight and body weight exercises. Due to the limited amount of time I have to work out I searched the Net for a time efficient resistance-based workout program and luckily for me I came across your website J CB: What were your pre-training stats? AW: When I first contacted you for advice on the best workout for me to start on I weighted in at 81kg (that’s 178.2 pounds) and 23% body fat. I am 6 foot tall. My waist had crept up to 37 inches! It was seeing a holiday photo of me looking like a beached whale that suddenly made me realize that I had to take action as I was heading the way of my father and grandfather. Take my word for it, it’s not a good look, no offence dad! CB: What were your workouts before? Why did they not work as well? How have strength and intervals improved upon those workouts? AW: Prior to strength and intervals my workouts were purely machine-based. My local gym uses Nautilus machines and the training protocol they market is a total-body machine-based workout 2-3 times a week. It consists of a circuit of 8-12 exercises and you perform 1 set of each exercise and look to perform 8-12 reps of each exercise. The idea is that you move straight on to each exercise with little or no rest between each exercise. Don’t get me wrong, I think that for someone relatively new to training it can be a safe and effective form of exercise and as it can last between 20-25 minutes each session it proves to be popular at the gym. The problem I found was that because the machines isolate the particular muscle you are working on I would experience a painful shoulder because I was lifting a heavier weight that my smaller muscles such as my rotator cuff could not handle. This would put a spanner in the works for my training because I would have to rest for a couple of weeks until the injury healed L I felt like I was on a hamster’s wheel. I would get better, start training again, move up in my weights and then hurt my shoulder again. I thought at first it was me and that I was destined to stay as I was. It was only when I started studying that I begin to understand where I was going wrong. Now with the help of your strength and intervals workouts which are primarily dumbbell and free weight based I know that I am strengthening my total body including all of the smaller muscle groups including my rotator cuff muscles. I am pleased to say that since commencing with my first strength and intervals workout I have not experienced any injuries and am now lifting more weights than I ever thought I would J CB: Andy, you have learned the hard way that traditional, machine-based circuits are not appropriate for the masses, despite the popularity of the chain gyms throughout North America. So which workout did you start with? Did you notice any immediate effects after starting? AW: When I started I was keen to get my body fat % down and reduce my waistline. I laugh about it now because when I printed the workouts out I remember thinking the workout looked easy and I would not find it beneficial. How wrong was I?? Phew I soon found that I was eating my words!! The workouts might look easy on paper but they are challenging although nowhere near impossible. Because I had not been doing any CV work in my workouts for a long time I found that the intervals particularly beneficial. My office is situated on a fairly steep hill and within a couple of weeks I found that I was walking a lot quicker up the hill to work without feeling as breathless as I used to and I still had energy to trot up the stairs! And that’s what I love about the workouts…its suddenly realizing that you are doing certain everyday tasks a lot easier without even thinking about it. I also love the fact that I have had a GREAT workout without the need for spending 1 - 2 hours in the gym. I lead a busy life and need to get on with things and know that I can still get everything done AND get a workout 3 times a week as well. CB: How have the workouts helped you? What benefits & results have you achieved? What are your gains and improvements and how do they compare to your before stats? AW:Continuing on from my previous answer the benefits I have achieved are loads more energy, better concentration levels and no more niggling rotator cuff injuries. When I started my first workout I weighed in at 81kg (that’s 178.2 pounds) and 23% body fat. My waist measured 37 inches. 12 weeks later: My weight was 73.8kg (162.36 pounds) A loss of 7.2kg (15.84 pounds) More importantly I had reduced my waist to 32 inches And my body fat stood at 16%. CB: How do you feel in terms of strength and energy? AW: I am stronger than I have ever been and have bundles of energy. I have not reached my ultimate goal yet which is to get to 12% body fat but I know that I am well on my way and look forward to the journey because I know that workouts make it possible to achieve such a goal. By Jarod Hunter Most just dont work like you wanna. But is it them that dont work, or you? You cant be sure if you really will meet anyone on a dating site. And this review cant change it. You know what is even worse as a dating site? A dating site review! People write dating site reviews. And basically its a piece of junk. They cant write dating site reviews because they really dont visit any to start with. So how can they write a dating site review? I give an honest review about it right here and I know what I am talking about. I am eligible to review dating sites for a reason: I use them to use my own player, player skills and pick up hot chicks. And I will tell you there ARE a lot of hot chicks on there if you know how to look for them. And of course if you know how to get their interest(which I do). So what dating site I review seems to be the best? The #1? This is a hard question. The point is this: on every dating site you will be able to find hot chicks. You dont need any review for that. What you need is a guide on how to pick up those hot chicks on dating sites not a review! If you lack the skills the best site wont help you cover those up. You need to know what you do and how to do it effectively! And the sad fact is most guys just dont know this. And seriously even a lot of girls dont. But if you are someone looking for a girl to pick up you need to know how to do it. You dont wanna know who can and cant pick up girls on dating sites. What you really need in such a case is coaching. Good solid coaching on how to get those dates on dating sites. But unfortunately solid coaching is hard to get. Most people are just wannabe players. And cant get to the goods even if they would try to bribe it silly. And I am dead serious about this! And a review on a good one is hardly gonna help in these cases (if any at all actually). I do, however, like dating sites for a reason. This reason is because I wanna get busy with hot chicks and dating sites are the best place to go. But giving you a review about dating sites is a hard thing to do. I can just give you 1 solid advice about dating site. This is not a review about a dating site, this is one solid advice which is: Keep it real and be unique. How to do that? I cannot possible tell you that in my dating site review. This is food for a whole different article at itself. I could, however, write tons of good stuff about this. Stay tuned Discover the sly schemes to manifest your wettest dreams by Jarod Hunter! What Went Pear Shaped # 1 - Trolling Lures For Pacific Blue Marlin

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

By Adrian Watt 2.30pm heading away from the Kadavu Seamount 1. Trolling a spread of 4 lures near the Kadavu seamount A purple Hollowpoint Cabo Killa on the long rigger, and a blue/white/yellow/pink Black Bart Hot Breakfast on the short rigger, both lures with a single 10/0 Stainless steel hook stiff rigged on wire. 19 feet of 400lb wind-on and 9 feet of 300lb Ande leader. Short and long corners were a huge silver / yellow custom MBT Monster and a John Lau Linda, both 12/0 double hook loose shackle rigged at about 45 degrees. (Pakula style) A large blue of about 600lbs comes in from the right, nails the short rigger, (skipper guns the boat) then crosses over and nails the long rigger as that lure passes her as well. Two Penn International 80s howling. The fish then charges away in the opposite direction to the boat on the surface for a few seconds and then disappears. (Pandemonium on deck- is it a double hook-up? Who goes in the chair ? lots of yelling coming from the bridge). Angler standing by each rod till we find out exactly whats going on. (I know I know, immediate failure to comply with IGFA Rules - but you try standing and indefinitely holding a screaming bent butt 80 with 25lbs of drag Hays Handle or not) 5 seconds later the blue emerges only 40 yards behind the boat and launches vertically clean out of the sea giving everybody a magnificent image of a huge blue, side on, silver and golden flanks, 15 feet in the air. The blue seems to hang, suspended in the air whilst 6 jaws hit the deck then crashes back in a fit of anger, throws both lures and disappears. Anglers wind in tangled mess of two lures with both leaders heavily scuffed for several feet ahead of each lure. One of the hooks had its point bent. What went right ? Well, we went to the right place. (had another small blue earlier on a skipbait) We ran the right lures in the right colours. (lures imitating the skipjack tuna and mahi that were in the area) Our hooks were sharp We gunned the boat after the strike to help set the hook. What went wrong Single hook stiff cable rig is not the way to go. The blue was able to throw both lures. If they had been rigged with a 2 hook loose shackle rig, the trailing hook may have swung over or under the bill and given us a hook-up. If we had still run single hook rigs (because of extra weight killing the lure action) it might have been better if we had not used a stiff wire rig and used heavy mono instead, allowing the hook to swing a little. One of the hooks had its point bent. It had tried to penetrate but the point area, being very sharp, was also thin compared to the gauge of the hook. The line pressure must have been trying to set the hook at an angle to the direction of the hook point and instead of driving the point in, it bent it. In my humble opinion If you are fishing for blue marlin, I recommend a two hook rig or a single hook set well back in the skirt and rigged on heavy mono to give it some flexibility. Yes, a 2 hook rig can pin a marlins jaws shut so you absolutely must remove the hooks and yes- a big mahi mahi on the deck with one hook in its mouth and another flailing around is a nightmare for any deckie but if you are worried about that, go with a single Duratin hook on mono. (we do worry about that) Dont hone your hook points so much so that the point is long and thin. By all means have a sharp point but keep that point length shorter rather than longer. As to whether or not you should use hooks where the point is parallel to the shank (like the Shogun T481 or Maruto 1983) or turned in slightly towards the shank (like the Mustad 7691 or Maruto 1962) ? Jury is still out. I know some skippers use one of each in their large lures with the trailing hook being the turned in style. I suspect that the whole issue of hook rigs in large Marlin lures is a hotbed of discussion. I have posed the question to Tim Simpson, the Editor of BlueWater magazine. It may be that the next issue of the magazine has some interesting comments from professionals such as Peter Pakula. Oh, by the way the Feb/Mar issue has a lead story on the top Blue marlin skippers favourite lures and how they like to rig them. www.bluewatermag.com.au Adrian was born on the island of Cyprus and graduated to his first rod & reel at the age of five. Some Facts On Bread

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

By Kadence Buchanan During a recent trip to San Francisco I came across the most famous sourdough bread made in the U.S.; the San Francisco Sourdough. This bread has remained in production for nearly 150 years and combined with an amazing soup that is placed inside the bread, it constitutes today one of the most popular dishes of the West U.S. Coast. In general, bread has been around for centuries. Experts believe that its origins started nearly 12,000 years ago. As one of the oldest prepared foods, bread is dating back to the Neolithic era. The first breads produced were probably cooked versions of a grain-paste, made from ground cereal grains and water and shaped into loaves that were laid on heated stones or baked by covering with hot ash. Descendants of these early breads are still commonly made from various grains worldwide, with the Mexican tortilla, Indian chapati, Chinese poa ping, Scots oatcake, North American johnnycake, and Ethiopian injera all being examples. However, the earliest documentation traces bread to the Middle East, where Egyptians cultivated grains. They baked flat breads, which are still eaten today, for many centuries until the discovery of fermentation at least three thousand years ago. The technique of fermentation, which causes bread to rise, spread to all countries bordering the Mediterranean. This sparked new improvements with the development of clay ovens and the introduction of the rotary mill in 1,000 BC. These advances spread to other civilizations including African, Asian, Indian and much later American cultures. Bread became so important that the bread industry began being controlled by those in power in the 11th century, by price and weight regulation. With further developments in agricultural machinery greater crop yields were realized. Hence, bakers headed towards the towns. Otto Frederick Rohwedder is considered to be the father of sliced bread. In 1912 Rohwedder started work on inventing a machine that sliced bread, but bakeries were reluctant to use it since they were concerned the sliced bread would go stale. It wasn’t until 1928, when Rohwedder invented a machine that both sliced and wrapped the bread, that sliced bread caught on. A bakery in Chillicothe, Missouri was the first to use this machine to produce sliced bread. For generations, white bread was considered the preferred bread of the rich while the poor ate dark bread. However, the connotations reversed in the 20th century with dark bread becoming preferred as having superior nutritional value while white bread became associated with lower class ignorance of nutrition. The Truth Behind Essiac Tea

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

By Len Gibb The Essiac tea, the herbal mixture of 4 herbs has been long used in the treatment of Cancer and the truth behind essiac tea has been brought out and confirmed by many studies. The essiac study is an excellent herbal medicine and Rene Caisse, the Nurse who gave it to the World was curing thousands of cancer patients with her essiac tea, and this alone is enough to confirm the truth behind essiac tea. The history of essiac tea can be traced back to the time when Rene Caisse started her essiac tea based treatment for cancer, she was running her Clinic, for more than 50 years and during this period she treated thousands of terminally ill patients who have been abandoned by the conventional medicine system. The patients were treated with her secret formulation which she called Essiac tea, prepared by herself in her kitchen. The truth behind the Essiac tea has been proved by her successful running of the clinic till her death. During her life time she had saved the lives of thousands of critically ill Cancer patients. The patients who were treated with Essiac Tea were able to see the improvements in their condition, and they were able to get immediate improvements from their painful conditions. The truth behind the Essiac tea has been established beyond reasonable doubt when the essiac tea has been found to work, and as having potential healing and preventive power. In the year 1925 itself, the truth behind the essiac tea was accepted as a cure for Cancer by the Governments of North America and it was allowed to be sold as a Drug. In 1939, the Canadian government accepting the truth behind the essiac tea legalized its use by Rene, but later due to various vested interests, it was withdrawn, leaving the position unclear ever after. But the fact remains that the Rene Caisses Clinic was open till her death and hundreds of patients took her essiac tea believing that it will cure their Cancer, and in fact they got the cure. Above any doubt it has become very clear, and established by popular support that the truth behind essiac tea has been accepted beyond doubt by the general public who actually use it to find cure for their ailments. Without the benefits the people seek in Essiac tea, it would not have been possible to have so many essiac based products made available in the market. This alone will demonstrate the truth behind essiac tea. Whatever the conventional medicine and the Governmental Institutions may have to say about the truth behind essiac tea, it is well established that the essiac tea does have the powers as a pain reliever in cancer patients and may act as a cure for it. It may also cure and prevent many ailments that afflict humans in general. Len Gibb is a webmaster who makes websites on a wide array of niche health topics.
